Higher Mother Tongue Languages(HMTL) Matters

• Students who meet the MOE Eligibility criteria to offer HMTL in secondary school are informed of their eligibility for HMTL via email from SST. Please confirm the HMTL offer within 2 days after S1 Registration Day via this Form.

• Appeal for HMTL: Students who do not meet the MOE HMTL eligibility criteria but still wish to offer HMTL, please submit the SST HMTL Appeal Form within 2 days after S1 Registration Day.

 Third languages (L3)

• Only the L3 that the students are eligible for will appear on their S1 Option Form. 

• L3 lessons are usually conducted once a week at the respective external zonal centres.

• Students assigned to Malay Special Programme(MSP) / Chinese Special Programme (CSP) zonal centres must register online at the respective zonal centres websites to accept the offer. (For SST, MSP centre is Bukit Batok Sec, CSP centre is Clementi Town Sec)

• Students who have been offered a Foreign Language must register with MOELC to accept the offer. (The language centre will be either MOELC Bishan or MOELC Newton)

• Please submit this form by 31st Dec 2024 to update the school on your decision to take up a third language. (Register with the centres first before filling in this form)

Foreign Language/Asian Language in-lieu of MTL

• There is no need for re-application at Sec 1 for students approved in primary school.

• S1 students who have obtained approval at the primary level to offer FL and would like to be on the waiting list for admission to the MOE Language Centre (MOELC) can apply. Please email HOD MTL for this or other enquiries: wong_lu_ting@sst.edu.sg
